I haven’t watched any of Spike Lee’s more recent output to put this into context. I can say I loved the movie’s complex moral underpinnings and the way it grounds its characters within the black experience of both the late ‘60s/early ‘70s and our own time. Also, Delroy Lindo’s performance is outstandingly nuanced and tortured.
