Viewing Notes

A nice slick, twisty crime thriller set in Detroit against the backdrop of a real life corrupt auto industry. The ensemble cast is great, including a standout supporting role performance by Brendan Fraser. Don Cheadle affects a raspy, world weary voice to great effect in the lead role.

The lens choices are distracting and out of place for a period neo noir like this, especially so on smaller screens; and the plot gets too convoluted at times. That said, I did like the mentions of urban renewal in relation to the auto industry who benefited greatly from the destruction and displacement of thriving ethnic communities, especially black.
