One of my recent B&N Criterion sale purchases that arrived on Friday. This was shot on-location in what used to be Rhodesia (now more or less Zimbabwe) and South Africa and the cinematography is beautiful.
Wilde is an interesting character and a unique director. I’ve now seen three films he’s directed: this, NO BLADE OF GRASS, and BEACH RED; and all are radically different from what you’d expect from their genres.
