Amalgamated Dairies hires David Rutherford, an FBI man turned industrial saboteur, to investigate a popular new product called “the Stuff,” a new dessert product that is blowing ice cream sales out of the water. Nobody knows how it’s made or what’s in it, but people are lining up to buy it. It’s got a delicious flavor to die for!

Second half of a double feature to kick off the Sie and Scream Screen’s Cohen tribute series.
So, turns out that this particular 35mm print was Larry Cohen’s personal print of the film AND contains the extra 30 minutes the distributor asked him to cut for the release! Never seen by audiences before! So that was pretty fun.
It does turn it into a 2 hour movie though, so we didn’t get out of the theater until 12:30am.
I would have to watch the Blu again to be able to pinpoint what was added, but almost all of it was just part of the film so it wasn’t obvious. Mostly felt like more extended character building scenes.
It’s such an odd movie in that it combines his typical guerrilla “steal a scene” without permits filmmaking with some slicker, more Hollywood-style stuff around The Stuff ad campaigns and commercials.
Moriarty’s character is hilarious and fun. He had to have had a blast filming this.
