Viewing Notes

Kicking off a fun triple feature of all three movies as part of Scream Screen’s tribute to Larry Cohen.

Everyone talks about the mutant baby of course but the real focus here is the couple and their relationship to each other and their mutant baby through the lens of the male-dominated culture of the 1970s.

John Ryan and Sharon Farrell do a great job as the couple, Frank and Lenore. So much of their attitudes and actions feel laughably out-of-date in 2021, which provides a lot of comedy now, but I remember being pretty terrified of that goddamned baby back in the ‘80s when I probably watched this for the first time on VHS.
