Viewing Notes

Also known as KING BOXER. Finally dipping into volume one of the Arrow Films Shaw Brother Box Set with this Lo Lieh-starring classic. Last time I watched this (for the first time) was off a bad version on Amazon Prime. It’s like watching an entirely different film.

This movie is so well done and in many ways defies the Shaw Brothers studio system by taking more time with character and plot development, well-dressed sets and just generally treating it like a film first, using the martial arts to advance the story, not be the story.
