Ichi is a blind entertainer that travels the countryside with her traditional Japanese guitar and walking stick. She’s in search for the kind man that brought her up as a child, but because of her beauty she encounters problems every step of the way. Fortunately for Ichi, she is also a gifted swordswoman and carries a lethal blade within her walking stick.

An interesting take on the Zatoichi story where the protagonist is likely his daughter but also blind and skilled with a sword. The story shifts its focus onto a disgraced samurai who cannot draw his sword due to an incident in his past instead of staying more focused on Ichi, which feels like a misstep.
Still a pretty good watch, especially considering I picked up this disc used for a few bucks at 2nd and Charles a while back.
Parts of it felt familiar so not surprised to see I’d watched it a while ago (12 years!).
