Viewing Notes

The description in TMDb isn’t the most accurate.

Clocking in at just over 3 hours, this is a gorgeous black-and-white tale of murder and redemption spanning the immediate post-war years of Japan from 1947 to the late ‘50s, focused primarily in and around the Northernmost major Japanese island of Hokkaido and the city of Hakodate.

For what is mostly a drama this has really good pacing and doesn’t feel nearly as long as it actually is. Now I’m interested to watch the director’s BLOODY SPEAR OF MT. FUJI, which I also own from Arrow.
