Viewing Notes

I’ve never been a big fan of horror anthologies for whatever reason. This one is pretty average with the exception of the last of the four episodes which is outstanding mainly due to the pairing of a manic Jack Palance and Peter Cushing on a great little story involving an undead Edgar Allan Poe! It also benefits from some great cinematography. There’s a shot with a key in the door in the extreme foreground with Palance’s upper torso and head in the immediate background that is sublime. You also get to enjoy Burgess Meredith as the devil/carny leading the whole thing.
