Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Viewing Notes

One of the advantages to working East Coast hours is going to the 4pm screening of a big movie when it comes out. There were still a lot of people but the crowds for the later shows were even bigger.

I’m pretty ambivalent about MCU movies these days and so my expectations were just blah for this. So I was surprised that this is a big ball of emotional fun. Gunn pulls off quite a feat by blending humor, sentiment and action in an emotional rollercoaster that has you laughing and crying, sometimes at the same time. Guardians are one of those groups where you care a lot more for the secondary characters than you do the main characters and Rocket has always been a favorite. Amazing that a movie can get you to be so emotionally tied up in a CGI character.
