Viewing Notes
First color film of the box set. Maybe it was because I chose to watch it in English, but this felt closer to a Hammer film than an Italian production. The practical effects on the creature are excellent and the whole production has a lot of sexual tension built into it. The nude scenes are actually great and the lead actress, Erna Schurer, while not your typical beauty, is quite something to look at and turns in a fun, some might say, feminist, performance that we’re not used to seeing in these productions.
This is sourced from a 16mm print and there is some notable damage here and there, but overall it’s pretty good quality considering the source material!
