Viewing Notes

From the director of BLACK DEATH, this seems to be more about gnosticism than possession, given that gnostics believe in the demiurge being a vessel of their god on earth. This is pretty low key and doesn’t offer up any direct explanations for what’s happening but it’s got a nice disturbing, creepy undercurrent to it with a nice plot twist at the end. I’d be interested in reading or seeing an interview with the director to get more insight into what he was going for. I’d still recommend BLACK DEATH over this but happy to see him continuing to put out movies.

There is an amazing shot near the beginning of the movie where Jena Malone’s character walks into her home and down a hall and only when she gets to the end do you realize it’s a reverse shot of her reflection in a mirror. I REALLY love that whole shot.
