Viewing Notes

I’d give this four stars, but it deserves an extra star for the great practical creature effects, costumes and vehicles. Despite all that, this movie just kind of does a lot of nothing too slowly. I remember going to the North Towne Mall which was located within walking/biking distance of my parent’s house in Loves Park. It was on the other side of the bridge that crossed the Rock River in a weird indoor/strip mall called North Towne Center. It had two screens. I also went on my first date there to see BREAKIN’ 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO.

I remember being pretty disappointed in the movie even though we saw it in 3D. This probably started my dislike of 3D since it was just a gimmick here.

Richard Moll’s creature makeup is pretty great in this though. In fact, all of the creatures are pretty fantastic, which makes the rest of the film that much more disappointing. The ending of this still kills me. Given who produced and directed it, I think it’s safe to assume they literally ran out of money and that was that. To make up for it, the end credits are both super long and scroll by very slowly! Gotta pad that running time!
