Leave it up to Arcand to inventively combine a political film indicting the textile industry, the Canadian government and the state film commission with a rape/revenge story. This is all set in a Northern backwater town called Louiseville and is partially based on Arcand’s own experience with getting a previous documentary about the Textile industry shelved by the film commission for political reasons.
