After being thrown out of medical school for ethical violations, Dr. Peter Blood returns home to a small Cornish village, where he sets up a research laboratory in a secluded cave. There, he attempts to revive the dead, using kidnapped humans—who he views as unworthy of life—for their body parts, specifically, their hearts.

Stars Hazel Court as the nurse who has the odd distinction of starting and ending her career in uncredited champagne-related roles: Tipsy Champagne Drinker in CHAMPAGNE CHARLIE (1944) and Champagne Woman at Hunt in THE FINAL CONFLICT (1981). She was in a few Hammer films and played opposite Vincent Price a number of times as well, so she’s fairly recognizable, if not by name.
Directed by prolific journeyman Sidney J. Furie, this wannabe Hammer film is mostly a weak retelling of the Frankenstein story without nearly the thrills or horror of the 1931, or even most subsequent, adaptations.
