Viewing Notes

Also known as BORN FOR HELL, which is the title Severin Films released it under. A fairly chilling, brutal watch that still pulls its punches here and there, keeping it from sinking into true exploitation, though it also falls short of holding itself up as true social commentary. The lack of score for a large portion of the film and the matter-of-fact way the protagonist goes about his rampage is pretty unsettling to watch. Although transposed to Belfast in Northern Ireland during the ongoing conflict in the 1970s, this is based on the real life killings by Richard Speck which he committed in Chicago in the mid-sixties.

There are a ton of extras on the disc that I’d be interested in digging into sometime in the future if I ever get around to it.
