Overview

As her marriage to decorated war hero Oliver draws near, well-heeled Diana moves into an apartment within an otherwise unoccupied, sprawling London house where she starts to experience strange and terrifying nightmares. But are these troubling night terrors merely the symptom of an unsettled mind, or the sign of something far more sinister at work? Hounded by a pair of sleazy journalists, Diana soon crosses paths with American tourist Jenny, who appears to have a strange connection to the foreboding house and its dark past.

Viewing Notes

The second film of the Scream, Secret Cinema, Scream! horror marathon is another gauzy, fantasy horror, this time from Chicago-raised director Harley Cokeliss. I love dream-based horror films because they expand the boundaries of convention and often contain fantastic dream horror sequences that defy logic. All bets are off and anything can happen! Their unpredictability make them interesting.

Dream Demon is no exception and has some fun, squishy, gory dream sequences pulled from the mind of Jemma Redgrave’s virginal bride-to-be, Diana. This is Redgrave’s (the niece of Vannessa Redgrave) first starring role, right at the beginning of her career, and she has all the charm and good looks of the Redgrave family working for her.

I added this movie to the marathon after someone mentioned it on Twitter a few months back. After checking out the trailer and some clips I was surprised to see this had gotten a release from Arrow, so it was easy to source as well.
