Viewing Notes

I largely enjoyed this even though I felt like it could have done a better job of keeping Napoleon and Josephine’s story front and center. I would have liked to have seen a little insight into their relationship, especially from Josephine’s perspective.

There’s still plenty to like though, including some extraordinary battle scenes, some sudden, shocking carnage, some hilarious bits of dialogue and amazing costuming and set design.

The film looked and sounded amazing in the Alamo’s Big Show. That screen is massive and this deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

I’m not sure I’ll ever get the visual of Phoenix banging away at Kirby’s backside like a tweaked out meth addict out of my mind though.
