Overview
An earthquake shatters a peaceful Los Angeles morning and opens a fissure deep into the earth, causing lava to start bubbling up. As a volcano begins forming in the La Brea Tar Pits, the director of the city’s emergency management service, working with a geologist, must then use every resource in the city to try and stop the volcano from consuming LA.

Viewing Notes
This might be one of the movies most emblematic of the 1990s era of Hollywood movie making. Ridiculous in almost every way, including the unlikely pairing of Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche. No one’s stretching their acting abilities in this one; just all balls of crazy frenetic energy and crazy disaster spectacle to keep you distracted. Makes me want to revisit SAN ANDREAS, hahaha!
