Takes a totally different tack with a little more serious plot while still maintaining the essential ridiculousness central to the characters. The lengthy gap in years between films is embraced and informs the characters in ways that moviemakers rarely get to explore in sequels like this. There’s still plenty of over-the-top silliness and action, just not anywhere near Baysian levels, and that’s ok. I’d say this is my second favorite of the three films to date.
