Overview
A brother and sister move into an old seaside house that has been abandoned for many years on the Cornwellian coast only to soon discover that it is haunted by the ghost of the mother of their neighbor’s granddaughter, with whom the brother has fallen in love.

Viewing Notes
Beautifully filmed with mostly great performances from the cast. Northern California does a nice stand-in for Cornwall and the studio backlot makes a nice fishing village. Milland and Hussey make a great brother/sister couple, almost a minor Nick and Nora ala THE THIN MAN. Gail Russell is quite good as the young Stella; it’s too bad she drank for confidence and it ended up killing her at 36.
