Drama

Overview

A Sardinian peasant is implicated in the murder of a policeman and, although innocent, he doesn’t give himself up, lacking faith in the judicial system and fearing that he may lose his sheep while awaiting trial. Viewing Notes

After watching this, I kind of wish I’d spent the extra money to get the UK version which has a number of shorts by the same director as extras.

This is a really good realist drama, shot on location in the Sardinian mountains in beautiful black and white, about a sheep herder who is wrongly blamed for the death of a carabinieri and subsequently chased across the mountains and ultimately into the very life of crime and murder he is unjustly accused of.

These Sardinian sheep herders live the hardest of hardscrabble lives, herding sheep in the rough mountains, making a living off cheese they make from the sheep’s milk by hand, and sheered wool.
