What a wonderful film! The animation is excellent but the storytelling and sound design are what put this at the top. Our theater was probably about two-thirds full and primarily adults, with a few kids but none that were really young. This was a “kid-friendly” screening so I expected some smaller children and possible disruption because of that but nope.
The only disruption came from the woman who sat next to me, ordered popcorn and then proceeded to scoop it out into a paper popcorn bag she brought just so she could annoy the fuck out of me with all her unnecessary rustling in the bag. It’s like she thought “how can I make this premium movie-watching experience as annoying as it would be to sit in an AMC?” and this is what she came up with. These people just need to strap a fucking feedbag to their faces so they can just tip it up and greedily gobble up as much popcorn as they want at a time. Clearly her two-fisted shoveling technique was not meeting her needs.
THEY SERVE POPCORN IN A GODDAMN BOWL FOR A REASON YOU CLUELESS TROGLODYTE.
Luckily Mrs. Oblivious Shovelhand’s popcorn ran out pretty quickly and she did not get a refill, so I only had to stop myself from beating her to death during the first 15 minutes of the movie.
The movie was great though.
