Thankfully, this screened in one of the larger, non-premium theaters so the screen was plenty big. Sparse crowd but everyone was quiet which was nice.
This is very much in line with Cronenberg’s more recent output of the last 10-15 years. As he progresses in age he seems to be fascinated with exploring death; specifically his own death. One can’t help but notice that Vincent Cassel’s character looks a like like Cronenberg himself in this.
I love all the themes explored in the film even if I don’t feel like it wraps up at the end, but maybe that’s ok. I have to think William Gibson will really like this movie if he ever watches it. The ideas feel very Gibsonesque.
