I’m not quite sure what to classify this movie as: a reboot I guess? More of a hybrid reboot/sequel. I think it’s probably pretty difficult to do something with the Friday the 13th series that’s fresh, and this movie does suffer for that. The typical cliched stuff is all here, though some of it is turned slightly and approached from a new angle.
Still, it’s not too difficult to figure out who’s going to die. It’s really just a matter of how.
All that being said, I actually took more of a liking to this reboot than I thought I would. It’s no Dawn of the Dead remake, which I liked a lot. On the other hand, it’s also not the Piranha remake, which I disliked a lot.
