Overview

For their honeymoon, newlyweds Cliff and Cydney head to the tropical islands of Hawaii. While journeying through the paradisaical countryside the couple encounters Kale and Cleo, two disgruntled hitchhikers and Nick and Gina, two wild but well-meaning spirits who help guide them through the lush jungles. The picturesque waterfalls and scenic mountainsides quickly give way to terror when Cliff and Cydney learn of a grisly murder that occurred nearby and realize that they’re being followed by chance acquaintances that suspiciously fit the description of the killers.

Viewing Notes

I had no idea what to expect from this film; I recall the trailers for it leaving me pretty flat and uninterested. Still, it had Milla in it so when I saw it on the shelf at the library I figured I’d give it a try.

I’m glad I did, because it turned out to be a sly little thriller/mystery. To be fair, the twists became obvious after a certain point, but it keeps them close to the vest long enough to hook you. The standout performances here are by Timothy Olyphant and his character’s girlfriend, played by Kiele Sanchez, about whom I know jack, except that she’s a Chicago native.

Chris Hemsworth also has a minor supporting role. I swear, I cannot escape this guy lately; he’s popped up in a number of films I’ve watched this year.
