darkly humorous, full of characters you really want to hate (and do to some extent) but can’t help but feel some sympathy for as well. In both Young Adult and Reitman’s Up In The Air, the characters are shallow and self-interested, yet the actors have a way of giving them depth and emotional complexity in subtle ways. If that were the case in just one movie, I’d solely credit the actors, but in this case I think Reitman shares in that.
Definitely a director to keep an eye on. His movies have been excellently cast and well directed.
