At times uncomfortably comical, deeply unsettling and violent, Cold Fish feels like social commentary disguised as a thriller. Cold Fish explores the extremes of masculinity in Japanese society: violent chauvinism on one hand and emasculation on the other; and the consequences of both of these extreme positions.
I liked the movie a lot, though it does take some time to really sink in.
