Anchored by an absolutely excellent performance by Woody Harrelson as David Douglas Brown, a patrol officer in the Rampart Division of the LAPD, Rampart is a great cinema. I have no idea how this film slipped under everyone’s radar. Harrelson gives an Oscar worthy performance here.
The name, and the back story for the movie, come from the real life Rampart scandal, considered one of the biggest police corruption cases ever, that took place in the late ‘90s. The movie is set just after the Rampart scandal, in 1999.
If you like excellently acted character studies, this is the movie for you.
