Overview

Peter Parker is an outcast high schooler abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Viewing Notes

Took the family to a new theater in the area that serves food and drink directly to your seat during the movie. It was an interesting experience. Ironically my youngest son didn’t care for it that much because the wait staff and the smell of food distracted him from watching the movie!

I thought TASM was decent, but I just never really engaged. I think I’m put off by the idea of revisiting the origin story yet again so quickly after the last trilogy of Spider-Man movies. Did we really need to do that? I think the answer is no.

It also felt like the movie was a victim of last minute edits. I kept feeling like pieces were missing and whole portions of the movie became dead-ends. Lots of time was spent building up to Peter Parker actually becoming Spider-Man and then the section involving The Lizard felt completely rushed. So weird.
