Viewing Notes

My friend JayH and I decided to do an impromptu movie night with selections taken from our combined Warner Archive movie purchases. If you’re not familiar with Warner Archive, it’s a DVD-on-demand service for out of print movies from the extensive Warner Bros. archive.

The Power takes place in the future: ‘Tomorrow’ to be exact, according to the intro text. And the future apparently contains some cool sixties buildings and interiors as well as a telekinetic super human, who has skipped ahead generations on the evolutionary chain. Much like Scanners, this person has the power to kill using his/her brain. Unlike Scanners, there are no exploding heads to really hold your attention.

Mostly you get to watch George Hamilton run around from place to place trying to figure out who the telekinetic super human is, only he’s mostly a bumbling fool and doesn’t seem to have much luck.

The sets are pretty cool though, especially one of the doctors’ houses, which is a full on Japanese inspired, low slung bungalow. I told my wife if I ever become a millionaire that I was building a house like that to live in.
