I kind of thought I’d seen this before but decided to give it a watch again in honor of Ernest Borgnine, who does a great job as the pious, tyrannical leader of the Hittite sect. Maren Jensen is also pretty good in this, playing a pretty tough (and sexy) widow. She’s best remembered as Athena from the original Battlestar Galactica TV series. I had a major crush on her as a kid. If only I’d have seen this movie when it was released!
All that said, this movie is kind of a mess. Who kills who and for what reasons are mostly unexplained, and the ending is completely out of left field. While it looks spectacular, it makes no sense.
