Viewing Notes

Our final film for movie night, another we rented from Xfinity OnDemand (Klown was the other). I’d seen mixed reviews of this but felt I’d probably like it even though I don’t always respond well to found footage style films. The fact that this was a horror anthology lent it a bit of a different feel as well.

The majority of the segments were great: I especially liked the first two segments (one directed by Ti West, who continues to do great work). I liked the premise of the wraparound story but it did feel like it needed to be fleshed out a bit more at the end.

One of my problems with POV/found footage films is that the shaky camerawork can cause me to get motion sickness. A did get a bit of that during portions of two of the segments, getting, literally, physically ill from it. Certainly not the fault of the film, just one of those issues I have.
