The 2011 Convention, G-FEST XVIII was held from July 15th through July 17th, 2011 at the newly renovated Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare. Guest of honor for the 2011 convention was director and special effects director Shinji Higuchi. Also appearing was actor Hiroyuki Watanabe, master maquette sculptor Hiroshi Sagae, actor Robert Scott Field, and special presenter film historian August Ragone.
Films that were screened were Gamera: Super Monster, Mothra, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, Gamera: Guardian of the Universe, Ultraman Gaia: The Battle in Hyperspace, and Gamera 2: Advent of Legion with introduction by our special guest of honor, Shinji Higuchi.
