Overview

Sharpshooter Mu Liangfeng (Peter Ho) with Platoon Leader (Tony Leung Ka Fai) perform specific tasks, with the big villain “ghosting” (Guo Mingxiang) and start match-ups/duel.  The trailer for director David Wu’s “Cold Steel”... could be a hell of a lot of fun. Everything you could possibly want from a Chinese action flick is in full effect, especially if you like your sex and carnage presented in an insanely stylish fashion.

Viewing Notes

Surprising first feature up at the CSS Kung Fu Action Triple Feature… because it was billed as being last and it’s not a kung fu flick. Having already seen this at FF2012 I wasn’t keen on revisiting this soon, esp. since I was lukewarm on it. But knowing what to expect made it easier to swallow this go round and I like it a tad more.

The action beats are really the draw w/the melodrama interludes and romance dragging the film down. Still a decent watch mainly for the gunplay. Very much looks like a John Woo film as the influences are readily apparent in David Wu’s direction (he worked w/Woo on several of his most notable flicks).
