Overview

Clumsy Monsieur Hulot finds himself perplexed by the intimidating complexity of a gadget-filled Paris. He attempts to meet with a business contact but soon becomes lost. His roundabout journey parallels that of an American tourist, and as they weave through the inventive urban environment, they intermittently meet, developing an interest in one another. They eventually get together at a chaotic restaurant, along with several other quirky characters.

Viewing Notes

Closing night at the 70mm Film Festival and the final film with a packed crowd. Pretty great to finish this 2-week event and such an amazing piece of work by Tati. The pacing and gags are done so well. The shot setups are masterful. So much contained in each frame. Rarely lulls which is a feat for a long film built on sight gags. Truly a piece of moving art. So happy to see this for the first time on the big screen. Thanks to MBT for the outstanding event. Hope they do it again.
