Viewing Notes

Really thought I had seen this but to be certain I requested the movie from the library. Was pleasantly surprised to get the Blu-ray, which is pretty nice except it reloads the disc if you stop the film which is incredibly annoying.

Definitely have not seen this Jet Li portrayal as Chen Zhen but it’s basically a remake of Fist of Fury starring Bruce Lee. And also the prequel to the Donnie Yen Chen Zhen flick. Can understand why this is considered one of Li’s best films; the fight sequences are excellent esp. his initial encounter at Kyoto University.

The dubbed Japanese and Cantonese is often annoying as it cuts back and forth, esp. for Yasuaki Kurata in mid-fight with Jet Li, which is so bizarre as to why they did this. Ultimately this is a film worth seeing for all the great leads and fight performances. Billy Chow and Siu-hou Chin are amazing.
