Viewing Notes

Remember when Thora Birch was just the bees knees? Yeah, neither do I. But there was a time was she was the lead in films. Oh how those days have passed. But here is one such example and an example as to why that really never panned out. She’s not terrible but also not very compelling as the lead.

The surrounding cast is much more interesting esp. a young Keira Knightley, who is mostly eye candy not having much to do but seems to steal every scene she’s in. Something about her earlier performances I enjoy a lot more than her recent work. And she’s not the skin sack of bones either.

Anyways, this a mystery told in flashbacks of these kids trapped in an underground bomb shelter but the story is told differently each time a la Rashomon style, even tho it’s really only what Birch remembers. Again not bad if you can buy Birch but really it’s others here that make this worth the watch including a Keira character I don’t despise!
