When I saw that CCS was sponsoring a new DCP screening for Willow at Patio I couldn’t resist. Having never seen this film, a longtime blindspot, I was glad to finally experience it for the first time projected on the big screen.
Had always thought this was considered a “bad” film but the ratings at IMDb prove otherwise, surprisingly so. But I’m glad b/c once the movie gets going (really the moment they encounter Val Kilmer’s Madmartigan) the film picks up. Throw in the romance and anti-hero arc of Madmartigan, this film is a winner. Damn, Joanne Whalley is foxy in this.
The new DCP did look amazing as advertised. Great to see so many families present even tho this is one violent “family” film for sure.
