Viewing Notes

Interesting Hawks film for me. First half didn’t do much other than allow me to doze off. Wasn’t into the characters and the story had no footing. The second half is like the other side of that coin; thrilling, funny and characters to care about. Odd experience. Cary Grant as an asshole doesn’t work for me. But Rita Hayworth as a sultry barmaid does work. Also the film is overly long to its detriment, IMO. Easily could trim 20 minutes or so for a much tighter narrative.
