Viewing Notes

Sometimes you accidentally stumble onto a movie that piques your curiosity because it sounds or appears better than the given ratings by other viewers. This is one such movie. I “found” it from correcting a data in TMDb then threw it into my queue. Finally it arrived and I watched.

Or attempted to watch.

Attempted b/c it was mostly painful to try and make sense of everything happening. Why characters and plot points were introduced. And what was the purpose of stitching soundbites from real musicians throughout the film. If you want to call this a film. Yeah, I get the part about a struggling musician past her prime trying to succeed in the music biz and having real musicians tell their own struggles getting into the biz (and honestly those bits are the only thing here worth a damn).

The main issue is that none of these characters are interesting, esp. the lead Camille Solari, who wrote the screenplay. The humor falls flat in every instance. And whenever a new plot point was introduced I lost more interest, “why do I care and why should I care.”

I’d much rather see a cut of this film w/just the interview segments, which are much more interesting and kept me somewhat watching along. Also very sad seeing Jani Lane, who I’ve always considered to be immensely talented. Such a tragic loss.
