Viewing Notes

Been itching to watch more Ishiro Honda films. Been a few years since I’ve seen this (last time at G-Fest 2009) so it’s a good one to revisit. Forgot that corny bit w/the Mysterians wanting all the women to mate with them. Also so heavy handed w/that “don’t use science for evil” bit.

Not the best Honda film but it does have a great cast and a great score. I really want to own that Ifukube score (the DVD even has a separate score track). It’s amusing to hear the American actors attempt at speaking Japanese. In the film, they speak the language as if they are intended to be fluent. Yet it sounds so stilted and rehearsed it’s obvious they’re not.

Anyways, fun comfort film.
