Viewing Notes

Had I known this movie would be this bad I may have reconsidered buying that 4-movie set. As it stands, I had already seen two of the four (owning one of them already on DVD) leaving only this one and another one that looks just as bad.

The interesting thing about this movie is how it mirrors the same career trajectory of Dolph Lundgren, i.e. making DTV war-tinged films in the Eastern Block. And not very good films. Let’s be honest; this is not good.

The problem I have is that JCVD is too encumbered here w/being a character that doesn’t fit his skill set. It only gets half of it right. He should not be the guy in charge of a team or group. JCVD is the guy who goes solo and fucks shit up. Or has a sidekick. Getting that wrong makes for a bad movie that doesn’t showcase its main star.

And sadly, this character could have been portrayed by just about anybody since it doesn’t little to highlight the Van Dammage.
