Viewing Notes

Seeing this presentation in 35mm at MBT was such an incredible experience. It was almost like seeing it for the first time. It’s been at least 10 years since I’ve seen this and even tho I still recall much of it so much of it really resonated on this viewing. The geometry, the patterns, the angles, and especially the long takes.

Forgot how exceptional child actor Danny Lloyd is in that role and convincingly so. But truly the standout is Jack Nicholson’s brilliant performance. It’s just so much more powerful on the big screen. Also my opinion of film definitely jumped up and now I fully understand the appreciation given to this movie. I always thought it was a great film but wow. Even better.

I wish everyone had this opportunity to see it presented this way. A real treat.
