Viewing Notes

Thanks to Well Go USA for offering this up free streaming online via Hulu I was able to view this romantic comedy which otherwise isn’t available on home video (it can be rented on Amazon Instant).

I’ve been curious about these annual ensemble comedies released in HK to celebrate the Chinese New Year. I believe the recent film for 2013 is “I LOVE HONG KONG, 2013” but not entirely sure. But I like the concept behind these films so I’m glad to finally have seen one.

It’s kinda like Love Actually in that it features several major HK stars each broken into their own story w/an overall theme. In this installment, the 7th film in the All’s Well, Ends Well series, four men sign up on a website to assist a woman w/her problem.

Donnie Yen is top billed and it was great to see him in a role I’m not accustomed to, an aging rock singer sporting a ridiculous wig. He has a few comedic moments that make this worth seeing. But all the main actors are pretty good in an otherwise mediocre story. Essentially you know that each story and couple will work things out and find romance or whatever by the end.

I enjoyed the story featuring Kelly Chen and Louis Koo the most, I think. But each has a touch a sweetness even if a lot of it is unbelievable. Based on this I’d watch more these just to see these actor do comedy.
