Viewing Notes

Damn, this has many more layers than I expected. Based on the description I was thinking it was just a MMA flick. But it dives deeper into the lives of these guys, retelling their past and how they came to this place facing off in a fighting contest.

Hwang Jung-min, who is brilliant in the recent NEW WORLD, is great here as a conflicted father with past of violence as a youth. Also a super supporting cast. A little long but it all works with these characters, drama and action. And the fight sequences are really good.

Highly recommended and a favorite of year so far. It did make me want to revisit NEW WORLD. If only had the time I would attempt to see that again while it’s still showing (in its 4th week!).
