Shoulda guessed this was a Isaac Florentine joint before I watched… it has Scott Adkins, fer cryin’ out loud. But this is a Van Damme vehicle and Adkins is the one of the big baddies, natch. But it’s fun to see them go at it even if it’s all too brief.
This is one of the better more recent JCVD films I’ve seen and I credit Florentine for that. He knows how to bring the action and thrills to a dopey plot about the border patrol. And Van Damme is rather good in his role offering some decent dramatic moments between kicking ass. The flashback stuff is corny but not overbearing. I’d definitely watch this again.
