14-year-old Kurt Russell plays Jamie, an orphaned boy heading westward with a wagon train. Charles Bronson is a wagon scout Linc Murdock, who runs into difficulties when he meets old flame Maria (Susan Oliver), who is now married to corrupt lawman Rance Macklin (Jan Merlin). The jealous Macklin has Murdock arrested, but Maria frees him, permitting Murdock and Jamie to embark on a new adventure involving a “lost” gold mine.

Picked up this DVD set of western films from the library b/c it had one film I needed for my Bronson project. When I was researching the other titles I discovered that this was also a Bronson flick. So basically I got a bonus flick for my project!
This is a total no frills western with a straight forward story that leads to conflict and a final showdown. Bronson is typically great as the lead w/child actor Kurt Russell as his sidekick. He encounters a band of outlaws, gets on their bad side then the fighting and shootouts ensue. Not great but very watchable. Would like to see a better presentation of this someday (all the films on this set are PD w/shitty full screen transfers, as is usually the case w/the cheapie sets).
