Overview
Chelsea is an in-demand call girl whose $2,000 an hour price tag allows her to live in New York’s lap of luxury. Besides her beauty and sexual skill, Chelsea offers her clients companionship and conversation, or, as she dubs it, “the girlfriend experience.” With her successful business and a devoted, live-in boyfriend, Chelsea thinks she has it made… until a new client rocks her world.

As I watched Soderbergh’s 2009 The Girlfriend Experience I was trying to decide whether I liked this film or not. Upon further reflection, I do and I would watch it again (thank you again, Instant Watch, the streaming transfer was gorgeous). A lot of it has to do Sasha Grey, who is quite photogenic and visually attractive. The day-in-a-life story of an escort is okay but it’s more of Soderbergh’s camera and editing that makes this work. Not a bad experience for a $2 million experiment.
