Crackling little flick from ‘34. Very progressive pre-code about two sister that operate a gas station / motel in the middle of the Mojave desert. One pines for a better life while the other is content. Their lives are disrupted when a couple of bank robbers show up followed by more visitors. Very tight and often humorous but also very poignant. Terrific print and Mary Talbot (daughter of Lyle Talbot who stars in the movie) provided an intro and Q&A. She was also signing her new book, a biography about her father.
